I am Director of Maintenance of a corporate jet facility and part 135 operation. We send our pilots to school to get type rated if they are not already, this is at our or our customers expense. BUT!! These pilots MUST have at least 3000 hours total time before we can hire them because that is the magic number for insurance purposes. They are paid VERY handsomely. Better than commercial at first but not as much in the long haul but the difference (on our scale) is not that great. Cargo pilots do not average as much as passenger pilots. Best way to get hired is to get the hours and then send out resumes. I look for hours as PIC (or even SIC in dual pilot aircraft such as Hawker Etc.) in applicable aircraft and experience with airports I deal with.
